  • Youth Mentoring Program

The Youth Mentoring Program (YMP) is an innovative project of the 1199SEIU League Labor Management Initiatives, Inc., and is administered by the 1199SEIU/Employer Child Care Corporation (CCC). The program was established over 25 years ago to assist the Union and employers in building a future workforce by exposing eligible members’ high school age children to ever-expanding careers within the healthcare professions.

Each summer, the CCC partners with 18 hospitals and nursing homes to introduce teens to the world of work and careers in the healthcare field. The YMP provides several key opportunities for its participants, including: hands-on work experiences; enrichment seminars; and career development and leadership skill-building opportunities. In addition to gaining valuable work experience, at the end of the six-week program, participants emerge with a greater understanding of the healthcare industry, a more robust professional portfolio and connections with caring mentors.

Want to participate as a host institution? Call (212) 564-2220 today to learn about how you can partner with us and support the YMP’s efforts to engage our youth in a healthcare-focused mentoring experience.
