  • Anne Shore Camp Program

The Anne Shore Camp Program allows eligible children between the ages of 9 and 15 to attend three- to four-week summer sleep-away camps located across the Northeast. One child per family may attend, although an exception may be made for twins. Camps for teenagers and children with disabilities or special needs are also available.

Camp offerings include a range of recreational and creative activities, including team and skill-building exercises. More than 800 1199SEIU children attend sleep-away camp annually.

  • Joseph Tauber Scholarship

The Joseph Tauber Scholarship Program allows children of eligible 1199SEIU members who attend accredited undergraduate programs to be considered for need-based financial awards. Award amounts vary according to need, with a minimum annual award of $750. Awards can be used for tuition, loan debt reduction, book purchase, expenses, or transportation.

One of the advantages of the Joseph Tauber Scholarship Program is that it is not a one-time award. While award renewals are not automatic, previous scholarship recipients who reapply for an award can be considered for support the following academic year. The Study Incentive Program offers current award recipients another option for scholarship support. The award was established to encourage academic achievement and to reward academic excellence. The Program is available for current awardees who maintain a Grade Point Average of 3.0 or higher per semester.

  • Youth Mentoring Program

The Labor Management Initiative’s Youth Mentoring Program (YMP) is administered by the Child Care Corporation. The Program offers a vocational experience to youth by placing them in the institutions where their parents work and exposing them to various career paths.

The six-week summer mentorship experience introduces high school teens to careers in the health profession. By working closely with supervisors, coordinators, and other interns in hospitals and nursing homes, youth are able to develop support networks and acquire insight that enables them to prepare for the future.
